FUNimation Interested in Some Geneon titles

ICv2 News - Navarre/FUNimation Interested in Some Geneon Titles

During a conference call with analysts discussing the Navarre financial report for the quarter that ended on December 31st, Navarre Corporation CEO Cary Deacon declared that Navarre (through its wholly owned subsidiary, the anime market share leader FUNimation) was "in very early stages of negotiations to acquire some of the Geneon library of titles." Deacon noted that Geneon had about 10% of the anime market and controlled some attractive titles. Deacon expressed his optimism about the current market conditions, which he thinks will provide lots of opportunities for FUNimation, whose prospects for acquisition of new product "remain very strong."
As we know I suspect Geneon is no more and their anime releases can not be released, for me it matters as "Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage" can't be released unless another company buys the rights to those titles, so I'm hoping FUNimation can get those rights.

I personally hope they pick up Shana, the Hellsing OVAs, Rozen Maiden ~tr?umend~, and Higurashi.

Funimation would have to be completely crazy not license Shana, Higurashi. Seeing as how they are both immensely popular. Hellsing and Rozen maiden are popular as well, just not as much as the other two.

Hellsing is quite popular, idk about rozen maiden or even higurashi. Shana is popular I guess, I watch it but not many people do anyway, well even if they do pick it up, dubbing isn't always the best ._.

I base how popular something is off how much attention it gets on MAL, AnimeSuki, and AnimeDB. It's hard to base popularity off of how much you see it on bleach and naruto forums, or even smaller forums like these.

And I don't like dubbing either but I like buying the official DVDs. I find it to be a lot more satisfying than downloading, thats for sure.

ah thats gay Geneon is such an awesome company >.>
Yeah they weren't getting enough money in sales so they had to stop.

Weird thing is there was a story about ADV taking all their products off their website which scared people into thinking the same might happen to them.

It's cause everyone is downloading and no one is buying! shame on you all! j/k :p
